One of my college assignments was to write an essay answering the question: Why is it in the 21st Century, at a time when technology is so advanced, is Merchandising, Marketing and Design so imbued with ‘Nostalgic-Styling’?

Focusing on the PinUp girl, I came up with a long text explaining the beginning of this concept, and the war years where the women were getting involved in society more and more. The essay ends with before and after examples of the use of the PinUp image on illustration and advertising, as the number of brands that use it to promote their businesses and products are increasing.

Once the essay was finished, I decided to present it as a magazine article, using InDesign to create the layout. The final result is a very colourful booklet with some full-page images and watercolour textures throughout.
